Our Busy Lives
To All of our Friends at Church of The Holy Spirit
First of all, Love the Cyber site! Congratulations!
Now, a little update on our Lives!
In summer of 2007, we became very involved in animal rescue! In early, 2008, I was appointed to the Board of Directors of Dakota Dachshund Rescue as Vice-President. DDR is a non-profit all volunteer foster based rescue group for Dachshunds in South Dakota. We became the Senior Dog advocates. We refer to our home as "The Donham-Oleson Retirement Home for Senior, Elderly and Geriatric Dachshunds". I subsequently took early retirement at age 62 in June, 2008. I took on the task of website development for Dakota Dachshund Rescue (DDR). I had never done anything with web design and knew absolutely nothing about HTML, editors, etc. But, I have learned! I have uploaded some a few pics in the album.
At the present time, we have 7 senior Wiener Dogs in our Home; ages 8 to 16 years old! 4 are ours; Grace, Scooby, Shaggy and Gus. All are rescue dogs either from puppy mills or owner surrenders. 3 are senior fosters for DDR: Sonny, Sr, Schotzie and Corky! We know our senior fosters will be with us for a long time as no one wants to adopt a senior dog! And...If they end their days with us before they go to wait at the Rainbow Bridge, that is fine with us!
This year we bought a new Honda Fit with license plates that say "DOXYRSQ". It is perfect for transporting dogs to DDR various public events.
DDR now uploads its available Dogs to over 15 Pet search sites including Petfinders, Dog Time, Pets 911. Since its inception in June, 2007 DDR has rescued and re homed nearly 250 Dachsies! Not bad for an all volunteer group! Here is a link to the DDR site take a minute and and browse our Wiener Dogs in need.

Russ is working at Wal-Mart and in his junior year working toward a BS in game design. Keeps him pretty busy. I stay home and keep the home fires burning and the dogs fed!
All for now
We wish each of you Peace and Love,
Bob and Russ
